Use display advertising planning to get targeting ideas and traffic estimates

Display Planner is a free AdWords tool that you can use to plan your advertising campaigns on the Display Network. To get started with Display Advertising Planner, you only need to provide a few basic details: your client’s interests or landing pages. The Display Planner will then generate positioning reference tips and provide estimates of impressions and historical cost to guide you in planning.

You can save the draft directly into your AdWords account as a new campaign, or add it to an existing campaign or ad group. You can also download the draft and review or add it later.

Reasons to use display ad planner

  • Provide reference tips to help you get started. It provides keyword ideas, placement ideas, and all other display network targeting methods to help you plan your campaign.
  • Estimated impressions and historical cost can guide your decision. Estimates are based on past results to remind you how effective these reference tips are. The historical cost points you to a reference hint that the cost is within the budget, and helps you set a bid for the used reference hint.
  • Share your plan. One click to download, allows you to easily export your plan, and then share with customers and colleagues.

How to plan a display campaign

  1. accesshttps://adwords.google.cnAnd log in to your AdWords account.
  2. ClicktoolTab and choose \"Display Planner\".
  3. Go to the \"\"Get tips and estimates\" section and enter one or more of the following:
    • Your customers’ interests, such as keywords, categories, or websites related to the brand or product you want to sell.prompt: If your goal is very specific and you want to narrow the scope of the reference tips, please enter multiple details. If you want to know what online advertising resources are available and get a variety of tips, please enter less detailed information.

    • The landing page you want to promote, such as a brand page or product page.
    • The geographic location and language of your customers.
    • Whether your campaign goal is to respond directly (hope customers click on the ad to reach your website or complete the purchase) or brand building (hope customers see your brand information or understand your products).
  4. ClickGet ad group tipsGet placement tips. You’ll see references based on the details you provided, as well as estimated impressions and historical costs.

    Specific positioning reference tipsOn the tab, you will find reference tips for keywords, interests, topics, placements, demographics, and remarketing. NearbyAd group tipsIn the tab, these targeting tips have been divided into ready-made ad groups.

  5. Click the double arrow »next to the ad group idea or specific targeting idea you want to add to the draft ». The reference tips you added will be displayed under \"Your Draft\".

    The first idea you added to the draft will create a new ad group under \"Your Draft\". You can continue to add ideas to this ad group, or you can click the \"+\" symbol to create other ad groups.

    If you want to edit your ad group, click the ad group to highlight it, then add or remove specific targeting ideas. After you add or delete ideas, the estimates will be updated accordingly.

    prompt: When you add ideas, please manage your drafts just like managing campaigns in AdWords, which means creating ad groups with clear themes.

  6. Optional: You can filter your reference ideas by changing the details at the top of the display planner or adding other targeting and filters in the left panel. Note: After you do this, the tips and estimates you see will be updated. Optional positioning and filters include:
    • Ad schedule setting: Filter reference ideas based on the date and time you set for ad serving.
    • Campaign exclusions: Filter ideas to remove unnecessary or irrelevant targeting (such as certain keywords or placements).
    • Ad size and format: Filter ideas based on the type of creative you want to use in this campaign.
  7. ClickCheck draftButton to view the summary of the draft.
  8. ClickSave to accountThe draft can be added to your account; clickDownload icondownloadDownloadable draft.
    • bySave to account, You can add the draft as a new campaign to an existing campaign or existing ad group. Then in AdWordsDisplay NetworkThis campaign is managed in the tab.
    • ClickDownload icondownloadAfter that, a CSV file will be generated and you can then upload it to AdWords, AdWords Editor or Display Planner. If you upload the draft to AdWords or AdWords Editor, please note that you still need to make settings before running the campaign: choose settings, set bids, choose budget, and add ad content. If you upload the draft to the Display Planner, you can continue to adjust the draft to get new ideas or the latest estimates.
